Operation: Finishing the Basement

We always dreamed of finishing our basement when we moved into this house almost 2 years ago, but now it has become reality. Since John and his Dad have somewhat flexible schedules as Realtors, they have embarked on the difficult, yet not impossible, project of finishing our roughly 900 square foot basement. The beginning supplies of lumber, wooden doors, and building materials were ordered and delivered in the early part of the week. John spent Monday night and Tuesday getting the basement ready for framing. He tore down the existing wooden shelving, a workbench, a pegboard wall, and then cleaned the floors and cement walls with bleach water. John and his Dad spent a couple hours yesterday and most of today framing. So far, it's coming along great! I will keep you updated on their progress and post pictures of the "before and after's."

Notice the darkened area on bottom of pegboard from where
basement has flooded in the past. We're praying that doesn't
happen anymore now that we have a back-up sump pump!

Maybe I'll pound a few screws before this whole project is finished...
but for now it's all about taking care of the kiddos:)

Despite her yucky cold, Kylee is still a happy girl!

What's more fun than chewing on socks and empty tupperware?

Meeting Macarria Anique for the 1st Time

Today I visited my friend/co-worker Kim who delivered her baby girl Macarria last night. Kim looks great and of course little Macarria is as cute as can be. Since Kim and I both work weekends we've spent a lot of time together over the past 6 months. So I've seen her go from having no belly to looking like she just swallowed a basketball. Whenever I have expecting friends and family members, I always try to guess their birth stats. And I have to say...this time I was pretty darn close. Now I don't want to brag but......I guessed Macarria would be born on January 18th at 8:30pm and weigh 7 lbs 11 oz. Kim was induced yesterday, the 19th, and had Macarria at 9:09pm and weighed 7 lbs 10.6 oz. Kim said I should play the lottery but I'm not sure about that. Normally I'm a horrible guesser at everything. There could be 1,000 people in a room and I would guesss 200. Seriously! So anyways, I hope she enjoys her time off work but I will miss our 2 am slap-happy conversations!!

Kylee is 7 Months Old

Here are a couple of the usual "7 month" pictures, although Kylee wasn't in much of a mood to take them. She was more interested in pulling off wicker pieces and putting them in her mouth. She's able to sit up by herself now very well and can go from sitting to falling forward to her belly. She gets frustrated that she can't crawl yet, so she just rolls over and over to get to where she wants to go or reach a certain toy. She hadn't really liked baby food up until last week. Now she loves it! Her favorite has been bananas with apples and pears. She also likes gerber puffs. It's so cute watching her cute, chubby fingers find and grab the puff and eat it. Kylee has always had sensitive skin and eczema but between all the drooling and teething and cold weather, her cheeks and chin are pretty bad right now:(

Kylee playing with her new icecream stacking cars toy.
She thinks its so funny!

Chad loves his Mega Blocks from Christmas! He
was so proud of the "robot" we built together.
Notice Kylee in the background chewing on her sock. What
is it about socks anyways? She could have a million teethers
and still pull off her socks and chew on them!
Silly girl LOVES anything that crinkles!! Don't
worry, I only let her play with plastic under strict supervision!
Chad's typical look when trying to snap his photo. What a goof!

At least his eyes are open this time!

Friend's Wedding

Last weekend my sister-in-law babysat Chad and Kylee so John, my parents, and I could go to my friend Jennifer's wedding. Jenny moved next door to me and we became best friends when she was 4 years old and I was 5. We were inseparable all through grade school and kept in touch while she lived in Florida for a couple years. We've remained good friends over the years and last Saturday, I had the privilege of seeing her marry the love of her life she met last October, Jeremy. The wedding was at the Hilbert Conservatory at the Indianapolis Zoo. The scenary was absolutely beautiful and a lovely dinner and reception followed. Congratulations Jennifer and Jeremy!!
