First Time @ the Zoo

John and I took Chad to the zoo for the first time a couple weeks ago. We spent about 4 hours there and saw all the exhibits and then went to White River Gardens to see the butterflies. Chad had a blast! He seemed to enjoy all the animals but especially loved the penguins, sharks, jellyfish, and fish tanks the best. We also went to the dolphin show which he found entertaining. Can't wait to do it again next year!!

Feeding ducks after eating lunch.

Enjoying Dippin' Dots icecream. Yummy!

Chad loved watching the penguins swim around.

Of course his most favorite thing to do......PLAY WITH WATER!!!

Going to the zoo wears a kid out!

The Next Tiger Woods?

Chad has a major obsession with golf. John and I bought him a plastic set of clubs for his 1st birthday. Now that he is walking so well, he just goes around the house, club in hand, hitting little plastic golf balls everywhere. Whenever we go to a sporting goods store, Chad picks up one of the toddler clubs and takes it immediately to the practice putting area. Because he has so much fun and actually looks like he knows what he's doing, we bought him a set of steel clubs made for 2-5 yr olds. It came with a 3-wood, an iron, and putter. They are a bit heavy for him right now but he still manages to hit the golf ball.

Where's Chad?

Who needs toys? Chad loves to hide in the kitchen cabinets and sit in the dog cage. It's so funny. Ollie just looks at him with his head tilted, probably thinking, "hmmm....I thought I belonged in there."

Grandma Connie Comes to Town!

Sorry it's been awhile since I've updated. A couple of weekends ago, Chad's great-grandma Connie (my mom's mom) and her husband Vern came to Indy while on their way home to Lady Lake, Florida. My Aunt Tina and Uncle Jim traveled from Cincinnati, Ohio to also visit us. Although we all had a lot of fun, none of us had enough sense to snap any photos. I did, however, take a few of Chad and Avrey playing together while Grandma Connie was sitting in the background. Hopefully we'll be able to make a trip to Florida sometime in the next year. One day is never enough time.

Chad is showing his great Grandma Connie how to hit a golf ball.

Look at me!! I can walk!!!

Chad has finally mastered the art of walking. He has been taking a few steps here and there but within the last week, he has become quite proficient. After we got back from getting his haircut for the third time (which was still just as traumatic as the other two times), I was able to capture him on video. The red balloon Chad is chasing around was the best part of the whole hair cutting experience. You can also kind of see from the clip this new little thing he does: he sticks his tongue in and out of his mouth and makes a sound like ladder, ladder, ladder.

Playtime with the Cousins!

This morning Chad and I went to my parents' house (MeMe and PaPaw's) to have a big breakfast with them and my brother Josh, sister-in-law Mandy, and their kids Jacob (3 yrs) and Avrey (9 mos.). But the fun didn't get started until we took the gang outside. They played in the pool, ran through the sprinkler ball, and sprayed everyone with the hose (which is Chad's most favorite thing to do!) And a hot day like today isn't complete without popsicles!
