Introducing....Kylee Alexis Long

Sorry it has taken so long to post pictures of the new addition to our family. Kylee Alexis was born Thursday, June 18th at 9:59 am. She weighed 8 lbs even and was 20 inches long. Although I thought I was going to be induced today, June 23rd, Kylee had a plan of her own. Many of you may already know the story, but if not here it goes. On Wednesday night, Chad woke up around 2:30 am and he finally fell back asleep in our bed around 4am. It was around 6am that I got up to pee and started having just mild contractions about every 20 minutes. At 7:45 both Chad and John were still sleeping so I told John I was having some contractions but wasn't sure if they were real but I am going to take a shower. While I was getting ready, John and Chad woke up and ate breakfast while my contractions started getting a little more painful and closer together. Around 8:45, John came upstairs, must have noticed I was in pain and said he was going to take his shower and that I should call my parents and the doctor. So after getting my things together and packing a bag for Chad, we took off for my parents house. As soon as I got into the car, I remember saying, uh oh...I think we probably should have left sooner. After John practically threw Chad and his stuff into my parents' arms, we left their house at 9:25-ish. I crawled into the back seat of our Envoy where I proceeded to scream and roll around in pain for what it seemed like was the longest ride of my life. Thank God we made exceptionally good time (thanks to John), because after my water broke about halfway there, I was holding my legs shut. We had just enough time to park the car in the pick-up/drop-off circle and make our way to labor and delivery. Because they didn't have any labor rooms open at the time, I had to go into an unstocked Triage room. The nurse checked me at 9:48 and I was 10 cm and complete (obviously too late for any medications at that point). The in-house doctor came in at 9:52, and Kylee was born at 9:59 am. Because everything happened so fast, I never had one vital sign taken on me, no blood drawn, no IV, no nothing. I was still wearing the t-shirt I came in with. Although going natural wasn't in my birth plan, at least it went fast and ended with a healthy baby girl.

Lovely Triage room and bed
My mom who we planned to have in the room for the delivery but was about 10 minutes too late. Sorry:(
